- Readily accessible and visible portions of the fireplaces and chimneys
- Lintels above the fireplace openings
- Damper doors by opening and closing them, if readily accessible and manually operable
- Cleanout doors and frames
The inspection report shall include:
- Type of fireplace
- Condition of the items inspected above
- Any evidence of joint separation, damage or deterioration of the hearth, extension or chambers
- Manually operated dampers that do not open or close
- Lack of a smoke and carbon-monoxide detector in the same room as the fireplace
- Any cleanouts not made of metal, pre-cast cement or other non-combustible material
